Bruce David Smith has been playing the piano since the age of six and teaching piano since the age of 16. His unique methods have produced students who are not only competent but play with musicality. Bruce takes an individual approach to each student, believing that music is something to be enjoyed, and his studio has become an open door for beginning, intermediate, and advanced pupils of all ages. Some students pursue classical training; others prefer popular music, or a combination of both. Students may also elect training in music theory, for which Bruce adheres to the syllabus of the state Music Achievement Program (MAP) requirements.

Mr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the Hartt School of Music. He has studied piano with Anne Koscielny, Raymond Hanson, and Paul Bisaccia. A member of the Connecticut State Music Teachers Association (CSMTA, Hartford Chapter) and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) for the past 30 years, he has taught in the education departments of virtually every major piano dealership in the Greater Hartford area.

Bruce’s CD, 5 Songs of Faith — A Portfolio of Piano Solo Arrangements of Sacred Hymns, was released in October of 1999. All tracks, including an original composition, were arranged by Bruce. All copies of the CD have been sold. Mr. Smith is currently Organist and Music Director of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor, CT.
