Mary Farrell is a classically trained pianist who enjoys playing and teaching pop, rock, jazz and classical music to all ages, preschool age through adults. Her inspirational manner, humor and patience create a most effective environment for learning. She offers private and semi-private piano and keyboard lessons in and around Mount Kisco, NY.

Ms. Farrell grew up in a family of musicians and began formal piano study at the age of seven. Her distinguished teachers attended Julliard School of Music, Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Chicago Conservatory of Music. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Wichita State University, KS.

She founded the Music Teacher’s Roundtable, a group of area musicians who ex-change ideas to improve teaching, and teaches an adult class “How to Read Music” at her local library. She attends Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) conferences and webinars.

Ms. Farrell accompanied many choruses and instrumental soloists. When not accompanying, she sang in choruses. She was the youngest organist for her church at age 11. Drawing on her broad experience helps her demonstrate musical concepts during lessons.

Many of her students perform solos and take theory exams adjudicated by NYSSMA, NYSMTA, PTC and/or MDP. Others delight as soloists in jazz bands, rock bands, or orchestras at their schools.
