“The primary goals of my teaching are to enhance my students' love and passion for music at each lesson and to inspire them to have a strong appreciation for the arts, no matter what their career choices might be. I want my students to be proud of their abilities as musicians, motivated to learn more, become independent learners and to develop a quality of musicianship that enables them to express thoughts, feelings, emotions, and interpret music with fluency and confidence.” – Miriam Hester Smith, NCTM
