Nadia School of Music offers private piano and cello lessons, in the comfort of your home or our studio, to students of all levels and ages in the greater Williamsburg area (including Williamsburg, James City County, and upper York County).

Nadia Ilardi, president of Nadia School of Music, was born and raised in Russia and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2006. She comes from a family of musicians and began playing the piano at the age of 5. She attended eight years of music school before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree as a Music Teacher (a specific degree in Russia) from the Stavropol Music College, where she was trained in the Russian system of piano education. She began teaching in a Russian music school in 1998, and in 2001 emigrated to the United States. She started the Nadia School of Music in 2003.

Nadia, a piano concertmeister herself (i.e., professionally trained to accompany orchestras, choirs, singers, and other performers), personally trains her instructors to follow the “Russian system of methodics.” Her qualifications include:

  • 10 years of teaching experience in Russia and Virginia
  • A graduate of Stavropol Music College
  • Performance experience with the Stavropol Symphony Orchestra and numerous regional competitions
  • A member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Williamsburg Music Club
  • Staff member at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Newport News, VA, as the choir's accompaniment pianist

All of our instructors

  • Are experienced musicians themselves and teachers who follow the Russian system of methodics
  • Have passed a rigorous screening process which includes an extensive background check, a performance audition, a formal interview, and reference checks
  • Are committed to helping our students discover a passion for music
  • Help our students progress through stages of learning which build upon proper techniques and music theory achieved in beginning stages.

Lessons are conducted in the convenience and safety of your home or studio by an experienced teacher who follows the Russian system of methodics and has passed a rigorous screening process (including an extensive background check, a performance audition, a formal interview, and reference checks).

Lessons occur usually once per week for thirty, forty-five, or sixty minutes, depending on the age, ability, and attention span of the student, as well as family preference.

Schedules are flexible to suit vacation needs, etc., with make-up sessions arranged as needed.

Lessons are available to students of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and will be individualized to each student’s needs and stage of music development.

Recital opportunities are available for students, such as participation in Federation of Music Festivals, advanced student recitals, annual recitals, and other competitions.

Tuition is paid monthly. Families with two or more children taking lessons qualify for a reduced rate; we also have special rates for senior citizens. Thirty days notice is required to discontinue lessons.

No registration fees are required, and the initial meeting is free of charge.
