Landscape of Piano Manufacturers
The piano industry has undergone a great deal of changes in recent years. The most notable change is the decline of American piano manufacturers and the rise of Asian and European manufacturers. These days, most of the pianos that are mass-produced for consumers are made in Asian countries such as Japan, China, South Korea, and Indonesia. The very top quality pianos that preferred by professional performers and serious players are made in Europe and the United States. Also, economic globalization has made it possible for mid-price piano manufacturers to access raw materials that were once available only to top-quality piano makers. Thus, some of the mid-priced piano manufacturers are making high quality pianos as well. At the same time, top-quality piano manufacturers are producing mid- and low-end priced consumer pianos from factories in those countries where the manufacturing cost is significantly lower.
