Greetings from Ruth Rose in Washington DC! I am a concert pianist and piano teacher with over 30 years experience. I teach very young children as well as adults, from beginners to advanced, but the approach is really one and the same: to develop an enjoyment of music for oneself and to encourage sharing this precious gift with others.

Right now there are openings in my studio for new students. Most kids start around 6-7 but I've taught them as young as 4! My students learn music in a supportive environment with great attention paid to finding repertoire they have affinity with, to maximize their enjoyment of music. Students get tools to learn how to practice independently and become musicians in their own right. We get along, we learn, and students get to perform several times a year.

Many of my adult students have returned to the piano after a long hiatus, but some are beginners too. Adult students also have opportunities to perform if they wish. I will work with you to arrange reasonable scheduling and lesson frequency when it comes to combining piano with professional obligations.

My students stay with me for years, as they see clear, tangible progress. They are always excited about all the new music they get to discover! My rates are compatible with those of other reputable music teachers in Northwest DC. Lessons take place at my studio near Van Ness metro.

Below you can read more about my background.
