Dr. Arlene Manger has been a successful independent piano teacher since 1975. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in piano performance from the University of Maryland, College Park studying with Dr. Nelita True. Both her Master’s Degree and Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree are from Catholic University, studying with Dr. James Litzelman and Dr. Thomas Mastroianni. One of her DMA papers concentrated on the “Teaching Pieces of Norman Dello Joio.” Dr. Manger has performed solo recitals, chamber music concerts and concerti with orchestra. She has been adjudicating for the National Guild of Piano Teachers for 20 years and also for the National Federation of Music Clubs every year since 1981. Dr. Manger has been a member of Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association for over 30 years, serving as chairman of the Piano Concerto Competition and recently serving as chairman of the Piano Achievement Awards for the last 3 years. She works to stimulate a student’s interest for a life time of music.
