Lessons with Avery

Avery enjoys teaching students ages 5 and up. He particularly enjoys working with adult beginners or students coming back to music and trying to redevelop their skills. Avery typically takes a classical approach to lessons. Method books are the starting point for most students, but as students outgrow these books, or as a change of pace is needed, other pieces are chosen to match the student’s interests. Avery understands that each student is at a different point on their exploration of music. He works with each student adapting along the way to best achieve each student’s goals.

“He is patient and would make the best piano teacher ever! (For everyone who needs it, of course)”
Gracie L.S., age 8

“Avery is an exceptionally gifted teacher. He is very knowledgeable and ever patient, and he inspires by appealing to his student’s tastes and interests, while offering practical suggestions for challenges they encounter. He has helped foster my love and appreciation for music in many ways and I highly recommend him as a teacher.”
K. Walz, adult

“Mr. Avery is great! He always helps me with everything I need, without an angry word!”
Ronny B., age 12
