Sarah Strom has been studying the piano for over 20 years and has been teaching for over ten years to students of all ages. She graduated with a BA in Music, while also acquiring a BA in Biology from George Mason University. She finds inspiration from composers like Brahms and Chopin because of their ability to create beautiful melodies upon complex chord progressions. Sarah believes studying Music Theory is the foundation for becoming a great musician. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the American College of Musicians (ACM), Springfield Music Club (SMC), the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs (VFMC) and Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association (NVMTA). Sarah works closely with NVMTA as a web liaison and is in charge of the directory. She co-chaired the Piano Achievement Awards Competition in 2012 and will again in 2013. Sarah also was the chairperson for the Bach/Baroque Festival and Competition in 2013 which hosted more than 300 entrants and will again in 2014.
